WATCH: Squawking fan in Union Jack hat videobombs U.S. Open trophy ceremony

SAN FRANCISCO — A crazed fan interrupted Webb Simpson’s trophy ceremony at the US Open on Sunday, squawking like a bird before quickly being yanked away.

The man, wearing a woolly hat featuring the Union Jack, started making the bird noises as NBC’s Bob Costas interviewed Simpson following his breakthrough major victory in San Francisco.

Within seconds another man grabbed the fan and pulled him away, with the entire scenario played out on camera.

According to CBS Sports, US Golf Association Executive Director Mike Davis was the man who yanked the fan off screen.

Simpson did not allow the act of idiocy to spoil the greatest moment of his career so far, simply laughing at the situation before continuing with the interview as if nothing happened.

Speaking about the incident later, Simpson said, “He just appeared in front me. I wasn’t sure if that was part of the deal.”
