NYPD body ‘suit’

It’s a real tit-for-tat case.

A nude model who was busted for dropping her drawers in Times Square plans to drop a suit on the city today.

Zoe West will claim her civil rights were violated when cops arrested her during a public body-painting project last year, said her lawyer, Ron Kuby.

“It is not illegal to be naked in New York as long as you are doing it for the purpose of a play, exhibition, performance or show,” the civil-rights lawyer said.

Kuby also jokingly insisted that West “wasn’t really naked” because “she was wearing a coat of paint.”

The petite brunette, 22, was posing at the corner of Broadway and West 44th Street on Aug. 30 when she stepped out of a G-string for the final touches of artist Andy Golub’s brush.

A crew of cops arrived about an hour later, slapped the multicolored human canvas into a set of handcuffs, and hauled her off from the Crossroads of the World in a police van.

No charges were filed, however, and she was released about two hours later.

“We had made arrangements to ensure that Ms. West would not be arrested, but apparently, one of the cops didn’t get the memo or didn’t care,” Kuby said.

He noted, however, that West was given a wide berth when she arrived at the precinct house clad only in swirling pigments, apparently because “nobody wanted to take the bust.”

West, of upstate Kingston, plans to unveil her suit this afternoon in front of the Manhattan federal courthouse — but will do so completely clothed, Kuby noted.

Golub, who himself was arrested for public lewdness for pulling a similar stunt at the same spot a month earlier, said he fully supported West’s legal action.

“To me, the clearest thing of all is that she didn’t do anything wrong, so why shouldn’t she sue?” he said.

Golub, 45, said, “It definitely was frustrating when it happened, especially since I wasn’t arrested at that time.”

“I didn’t like seeing her getting arrested, for sure, but I don’t regret doing it,” added Golub, who calls his art “a very dynamic process” that’s “fun to watch.”

Golub also said that the earlier case against him has since been dropped, and that he has held several subsequent “full- body” painting exhibitions in Times Square, with another planned for Thursday.

The NYPD declined to comment.
