Cleared school aide’s demand

A Queens school aide will fight to get his job back after a grand jury declined to indict him on charges that he molested six young girls in the classroom, his lawyer said yesterday.

Brett Picou, 30, a paraprofessional for arts classes at PS 52 in Springfield Gardens, has been suspended without pay since Feb. 15 when he was charged with fondling his 9- and 10-year-old students over a four-month period.

“We are looking to see if he can return to work,” said his attorney, Virginia LoPreto. “The return of his reputation and job is not guaranteed.”

But the Department of Education said it doesn’t want him back just yet.

“Regarding the status of paraprofessional Brett Picou, the matter is under review by the DOE, and he remains suspended without pay,” said department spokeswoman Marge Feinberg.
