NYC gals getting out-dated

There ain’t much sex in this city.

The 10001 ZIP code that straddles Chelsea and the Penn Station area has one of the highest ratios of young women to men in the country, according to the new book “Premarital Sex in America: How Young Americans Meet, Mate, and Think about Marrying.”

In the womanly 10001 world, 78 percent of 20-year-olds are females, authors Mark Regnerus and Jeremy Uecker discovered.

“There are no guys around here at all,” said Erin Czesak, 22, a senior at FIT who makes the pilgrimage to the West Village to meet men her age.

To make the odds even worse, the neighborhood is also a gay man’s mecca. “There’s not a lot of people around here looking for straight young girls,” she groaned.

“You have the double whammy of more women and more gay men. It’s bad,” said Nancy Slotnick, a city dating coach and founder of Matchmaker Café, a Facebook site.

The rest of New York also isn’t a lover’s paradise.

New York state has the country’s highest percentage of women who have never tied the knot, according to 2010 Census data.

The marital affairs are particularly bleak in the city, where gals who have never wed make up 42 percent of the population. That’s up from 39 percent in 2006.

“The older you get, the more you have to shake things up and pay attention to the guys around you. The good ones get matched up,” Slotnick said.

As far as gender ratios, Chelsea leads the city in the number of 20- to 24-year-olds who are female, with two gals for every one guy, according to a Post analysis of Census data.

Two posh neighborhoods in the Upper East Side — 10065 in the East 60s and 10075 in the East 70s — didn’t lag far behind in the dating desert, with 65 percent of 20- to 24-year-olds being women.

Young gals tend to flock to the glamorous city life more than men, trying to achieve their Carrie Bradshaw fantasies, Regnerus explained.

But that makes finding a man willing to commit a babe battle royale.

“It’s like a candy store” for men, Regnerus said.

Sadly, the city offers few green pastures for daters, with lopsided gender ratios occurring throughout.

Manhattan and The Bronx are tied for the worst, with 53.1 percent of residents being women.

Staten Island was the most equal, with 51.5 percent of the island’s population being female. Ladies made up 52.8 percent of Brooklyn and 51.6 percent of Queens.

Living in a neighborhood without many eligible singles can really crush one’s dating chances, as the local laundry, supermarket or gym are often tickets to finding love prospects, Slotnick said.

“It can make the hard situation of meeting people even harder,” she said.
