Bunraku

Extremely cool-looking in the manner of “Sin City,’’ but clumsily staged, slackly acted and mind-numbingly dull, Israeli director Guy Moshe’s English-language fantasy is set in a future when guns, and apparently coherent conversations, have been outlawed.

A more-wooden-than-ever Josh Hartnett plays a nameless warrior, accompanied by a Japanese sidekick (pop star Gackt), out to settle a score with a crime boss appropriately known as the Woodcutter (Ron Perlman).

The title of “Bunraku’’ refers to the Japanese paper cutout puppets that make periodic appearances. So, too, do a confused-looking Woody Harrelson as a bartender — and, as the Woodcutter’s mistress, Demi Moore, whose ageless looks seem to have crossed over into empty digital realms occupied by bombs like this a long time ago.
