Ad Age names Vogue top mag

Vogue topped Ad Age’s annual magazine A-list after the fashion bible managed to grow both ad pages and circulation this year.

Vogue, named Magazine of the Year, reported that newsstand sales are up almost 13 percent this year, thanks in part to its pink-winged Lady Gaga cover, while total circulation is up 2.1 percent. Ad pages are up 9.1 percent through October.

“It’s easier to grow when you’re new and relatively small, but when you’re this established and you grow anyway, you’re doing more than a few things right,” Ad Age said in singling out Vogue for top honors.

Monocle’s Tyler Brûlé was named Editor of the Year and Time Magazine’s Kim Kelleher received Publisher of the Year.

Ad Age presented its annual list, which recognizes magazines that have excelled on the business as well as the editorial front, today at the American Magazine Conference in Midtown’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Time Magazine came in at No. 2, followed by the Food Network Magazine in third place.
