Hank Williams Jr.’s furor: Is it time to shut his yap?

The Issue: ESPN’s decision to can Hank Williams Jr. after he compared President Obama to Hitler.

Singers shouldn’t mess with politics (“Monday Night Football Singer Apologizes for Remarks,” Oct. 5).

Hank Williams Jr. is going to have to come up with a better apology for comparing President Obama to Hitler than what he issued on Facebook if he ever wants to work with ESPN again.

It was humorous to read Rich Lowry write that the “Occupy Wall Street” movement is toxic and pathetic, just one day after redneck Williams, a Tea Party favorite, compared our president to Hitler (“The Left’s ‘Tea Party’?” PostOpinion, Oct. 4).

That is not the way Republicans expect to win the White House, is it?

How come it’s OK for liberals to compare George W. Bush and Rudy Giuliani to Hitler?

Anyone with a backbone and a brain sees this as typical liberal media bias.

Everything Williams said is true.

I am going to boycott ESPN and buy every one of Williams’ albums.

Bravo, Hank Williams Jr. I applaud you for speaking your mind and not being politically correct.

Williams didn’t call the president “Hitler.” He only exercised his right to free speech and made a comment.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where everyone believes that they have to be politically correct.

So long as I have freedom of speech, I am going to shoot from the hip and not worry about whom my words offend.
