Boys soccer roundup: Fordham Prep tops Farrell, reaches Archdiocesan final

Fordham Prep is going back to the Archdiocesan championship game.

Sebastian Palomino had two goals to lead the Rams to a 2-0 win over Monsignor Farrell in the CHSAA Archdiocesan semifinals Saturday on Staten Island. Fordham (9-2-5) will meet Iona Prep in the championship game Wednesday at Murphy Field on the campus of Fordham University. The two teams met twice this season, with the Rams routing the Gaels, 3-0, most recently after a tie to begin the season.

On Sunday, Fordham played most of the game without stars Dylan Cope and Mark Kramarchuk. Cope was taken out in the seventh minute by coach Pete McNamara due to a slight groin injury. It was nothing serious, McNamara said. Kramarchuk was on a college visit to Bucknell. Jack Siebecker is also still out after breaking a bone in his foot.

Last year, Fordham beat Iona in penalty kicks in the Archdiocesan final. The winner Wednesday will move onto the CHSAA Class AA state tournament provided another team from the Archdiocese does not win the intersectional title like Iona Prep did last year.
