Porn in the USA

Showtime is once again pushing the boundaries of decency on pay TV with a new late night series composed of vintage pornography.

“Dave’s Old Porn” – premiering tonight at 11:30 PM – features mainstream comics and adult film stars viewing and commenting on XXX films from the ’70s and ’80s.

“We are not allowed to show penetration, but we get really, really close,” creator and host Dave Attell tells The Post.

“You will have to use a little imagination.”

In the first of eight half-hour episodes, sitcom star Whitney Cummings and adult movie icon Ron Jeremy, sit side-by-side watching Jeremy’s 1981 performance in “Bad Girls” on a giant screen.

“If you like dirty, fun, fast, unscripted jokes and hairy retro porn, this is the show for you,” Attell says.

“If you don’t like porn, you will go, ‘That is the reason I don’t like it.’ I don’t think I will be converting anybody to the religion of porn.”

Attell, who viewed his first adult film in junior high school, says it has taken more than four years to get his “porn party” on the air.

Pay cable channels — Showtime in particular — have never shied away from nudity. But this project came with the added challenge of avoiding graphic images that would violate federal obscenity and indecency laws.

In once scene a cut out image of the host and his guests seated on a long red couch is used to censor an act of oral sex.

“We and be respectful to the original directors cut as possible,” Attell says. “But we do jump from scene to scene.”

The show – which features many films from Attell’s personal XXX library — also includes interviews with many stars from what he calls the “golden age of porn.”

“We had Georgina Spelvin on who was in ‘The Devil In Miss Jones,'” he says.

“She is in her 70s now. She came out and told us how she also had to do the craft services. It’s weird that the star of the movie also had to serve the food for everybody!”
