WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Ryan Callahan scored a power-play goal and the New York Rangers ended a seven-game road trip with a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night
Callahan scored his team’s second power-play goal of the night at 8:41 of the third period.
Ruslan Fedotenko also scored with the man advantage early in the second period for the Rangers,and Dan Girardi assisted on both goals.
Nik Antropov scored for Winnipeg late in the second period.
The game ended New York’s seven-game road trip that began in Sweden. Their home opener is Thursday against Toronto in a renovated Madison Square Garden. Martin Biron was in goal for New York instead of star Henrik Lundqvist as part of a planned rotation.
Lundqvist left last Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Edmonton in the third period because of pain from new skates.
Chris Mason started in goal for Winnipeg. Last Saturday, he replaced Ondrej Pavelec after the young netminder gave up two early goals against Carolina in what ended up being a 5-3 Jets win.
Winnipeg outshot the Rangers 28-17.
With Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien in the penalty box for tripping, Fedotenko scored his first goal of the season on the power play when he redirected a point shot by Girardi at 5:51 of the second period.
After the Jets had to kill off another penalty, Antropov evened the score 1-1 at 14:29.
Winnipeg came out strong in the third period, outshooting the Rangers 12-1 in the first eight minutes until Jets forward Chris Thorburn was sent to the box for tripping.
Callahan scored after his shot went off the skate of Winnipeg defenseman Zach Bogosian at 8:41.
