The “Shrek” spinoff “Puss in Boots” landed on all fours, opening with an estimated $34 million to lead the weekend box office.
Paramount Pictures also claimed the second top performer, with the horror flick “Paranormal Activity 3” taking in $18.5 million in its second week.
The Justin Timberlake sci-fi thriller, “In Time,” opened in third spot, with a $12 million take.
“Footloose” was in fourth position over the weekend, adding $5.4 million.
The biggest disappointment was “The Rum Diary,” starring Johnny Depp, which earned just $5 million.
