Devils activate Brodeur off injured reserve

The Devils on Monday activated Martin Brodeur from injured reserve and returned goalie Keith Kinkaid to Albany of the AHL.

Brodeur has missed six games since reinjuring his right shoulder Oct. 13 against the Kings, and could have the chance to seek his first victory of the season (0-1) when the Maple Leafs visit Prudential Center on Wednesday.

“There’s no doubt in mind that if they were to ask me to play, I could play,” Brodeur said Monday, according to NorthJersey.com. “But I want to make sure I’m 100 percent to go out there and play, to the level I feel comfortable, anyway. I’ll know more tomorrow. This is the first day of practicing. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. I’ll have another big practice and I’ll let coach know how I feel. If it’s not for the next two games, there’s definitely a good chance for Saturday.”

Coach Pete DeBoer said “there’s a possibility” Brodeur could play Wednesday, “but it’s definitely not a sure thing.”

“He’ll make that call,” DeBoer said. “This guy knows his body better than anybody. There’s nothing that I can look at out there and decide what he knows. He knows his body. We just don’t want to rush him to get in there. He wants to help the team obviously, but he’s got to feel very good to do that.”

Brodeur on Monday participated in his first full practice since the injury, the website reports.

Kinkaid did not appear in backing up Johan Hedberg, who is 4-3-1 this season.
