John Goodman, Justin Timberlake to join cast of Coen brothers folk music feature

LOS ANGELES — John Goodman and Justin Timberlake will reportedly join the cast of Joel and Ethan Coen’s upcoming film “Inside Llewyn Davis,” set in the world of 1960s folk music.

Showbiz 411 broke the story on Goodman, who has been a longtime collaborator with the Coens in films such as “Raising Arizona” and “The Big Lebowski.”

Variety reported that Timberlake is in final negotiations to join the cast. He is currently starring in the sci-fi thriller “In Time,” which opened Friday.

“Inside Llewyn Davis” is a period film loosely based on 1960s musician Dave van Ronk and other Greenwich Village folk artists like Bob Dylan. Timberlake has reportedly been offered the role of a young musician who is married to a character to be played by Carey Mulligan, while Goodman’s part has yet to be announced.

Production on the film is scheduled to begin early next year.
