Keith Urban to undergo throat surgery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country singer Keith Urban revealed Thursday that he will undergo throat surgery to remove a polyp growing on his vocal chords.

“The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation,” according to a statement posted on the singer’s website.

The Aussie native will have the procedure in late November and will have to reschedule numerous planned appearances, including the “All For The Hall” benefit concert in Nashville that had been set for January 18, 2012.

The 44-year-old Grammy winner has been married to Oscar winner Nicole Kidman since 2006. The couple have two daughters Sunday Rose, aged three, and Faith Margaret, who is 11 months old.
