VIENNA — A bloodied body caused a fright in an Austrian motorway rest area Tuesday, before police raised it again from the dead.
Passersby alerted the authorities at dawn that a body covered in blood lay in a rest area off the Tauern motorway near Salzburg.
As it turned out, the “zombie” was just a drunk young man in a Halloween costume, his face covered in fake blood, sleeping it off in his car, police said in a statement.
The 23-year-old driver in the living dead costume had stopped at the rest area after he damaged a tire and could not drive further.
He had his license suspended for drunk driving.
