Teflon Herm pulls in a fresh 250G

WASHINGTON — Herman Cain is turning past sexual-harassment allegations into a fund-raising bonanza, hauling in more than $250,000 Monday alone.

“It was one of our best fund-raising days ever,” Cain campaign manager Mark Block said yesterday at a political forum in Washington. The Cain camp later upped the estimated haul to more than $300,000.

Nor have there been signs that Iowa Republicans are ready to abandon Cain over allegations that he had harassed female employees while running the National Restaurant Association from 1996 to 1999 — charges that Cain emphatically denies, though he acknowledged that at least one resulted in a settlement payout.

The Des Moines Register contacted more than 20 likely participants in the upcoming Iowa caucuses who took part in the paper’s latest GOP poll, and none said the allegations would cause them to reject Cain.

Meanwhile, one of the women who reportedly claimed harassment by Cain wants to talk publicly — but is barred by a confidentiality agreement she signed, said her lawyer, Joel Bennett.
