5 questions for … Eddie George

SiriusXM College Sports Nation host and former Ohio State Heisman-winning running back Eddie George breaks down the Arkansas-LSU showdown and the Buckeyes’ pursuit of Urban Meyer with The Post’s Justin Terranova.

Q: Do you give Arkansas a legitimate shot against LSU?

A: They have every chance to win. Arkansas has always given LSU matchup problems, and they beat them last year. LSU has the best secondary in the country, but they are facing a receiving corps that’s just as good. At times LSU can get out of position and they can’t afford to do that against Tyler Wilson.

Q: Do you have any problem with a rematch involving some combination of LSU, Arkansas and Alabama in national title game?

A: At this point, I don’t. Stanford, Oklahoma and Oregon all had destiny in their own hands and didn’t take care of business. And I think Alabama is the best of the one-loss teams. I want to see the best two teams play, rematch or not.

Q: Urban Meyer appears bound to be the next head coach at Ohio State. Is he the right man for the job?

A: Yes, I think it would energize the state, the recruiting classes and bring stability to the program. He’s the big fish and they need someone who can go out, recruit, raise money and be the face of this program. With his name already coming up, they might make an announcement soon if he is the guy.

Q: Who do you see as the favorite in the Heisman race?

A: It’s wide open, and I’d love to have another year of eligibility. But seriously, Andrew Luck has not really had that memorable Heisman moment. Baylor is 7-4 but [their quarterback] Robert Griffin III had that kind of play with that game-winning throw against Oklahoma last week.

Q: Do you have any problem with Penn State accepting a bowl bid with all the allegations still surrounding Jerry Sandusky and the program?

A: None at all. This happened a while ago and they acted swiftly and promptly with the information they had by firing Joe Paterno. It would be a shame for the seniors not to play in a bowl game. They are playing inspired, playing for Paterno and wanting to go out as winners.
