BU puts Cornell on ice at Garden

Ross Gaudet’s goal with 2:12 left in overtime led the No. 15 Boston University men’s hockey team past No. 17 Cornell, 2-1, last night in the third installment of Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden.

The junior forward’s first goal of the season came from a nifty redirection of a Max Nicastro shot from the point. Sophomore defenseman Adam Clendening also notched his first goal of the season to open the scoring at the 11:07 mark of the first period.

Senior goaltender Kieran Millan made 23 saves, including a crucial save in overtime, for his fifth win.

The contest was played in front of a sellout crowd of 18,200. BU moved to 2-0-1 all-time at Red Hot Hockey.
