DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, 2002

AMERICAN GANGSTER, 2007

THE HANGOVER, 2009

SOME LIKE IT HOT, 1959

Sunday, 12:15 p.m., TCM

Marilyn was never hotter than when she was being funny — or in this case, hilarious. Two struggling musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, right) witness the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre and have to disguise themselves as women and join an all-girls traveling band. All’s well until one (Curtis) falls for band-mate Sugar (Monroe), and the other (Lemmon) becomes the love object of an eccentric millionaire, (Joe E. Brown). Six Oscar noms.

DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, 2002

Tuesday, 1 a.m., PBS

Two immigrants —a Nigerian doctor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and a Turkish chambermaid (the glorious Audrey Tautou, left) — work in a London hotel where all kinds of dirty business is business as usual. They get in over their heads when the doctor finds a human heart in the toilet. Speaking of hearts, this movie is not for the weak of heart.

AMERICAN GANGSTER, 2007

Wednesday, 8 p.m., BET

Based on the real-life exploits of drug kingpin Frank

Lucas (Denzel Washington, right), and the NYPD detective

(Russell Crowe) who dedicated himself to bringing him down, the movie traces Lucas’ path from gangster’s gofer to godfather of heroin when he begins to buy directly from the source. Intense. With Ruby Dee.

THE HANGOVER, 2009

Saturday, 11:15 p.m., TBS

The funniest movie of 2009 finds a bunch of friends and one future brother-in-law (Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, below) in Las Vegas for a 24-hour bachelor party. When they all get so drunk they lose not just their memories but a friend, and end up with a tiger in the bathroom, they know they’re in trouble.
