Lady Gaga visits White House to promote anti-bullying efforts

WASHINGTON — Lady Gaga stopped by the White House Tuesday to brief staffers on her anti-bullying efforts.

Though she is known for her outlandish outfits, Lady Gaga appeared more conventionally attired in a white suit and platform shoes as cameras caught her getting into her black SUV after the meeting.

The 25-year-old did not meet with President Barack Obama because he was in Kansas to deliver a speech on the economy.

The “Born This Way” singer already crossed paths with the Commander-in-Chief at a fundraising event in September, where she told Obama about the importance of anti-bullying initiatives.

In November, the singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, announced she was launching a charitable project called the Born This Way Foundation to support young people and fight bullying.

The non-profit effort, headed by the artist and her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, will support “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development.”

The Grammy winner is currently putting together an advisory board in advance of the foundation’s formal launch in 2012.
