Playoffs sure thing for Giants’ Rolle

Did Antrel Rolle yesterday guarantee a victory this Sunday night against the Cowboys?

Of course he didn’t, but he stated in no uncertain terms the Giants, 6-6 and riding a four-game losing streak, will make the playoffs. For that to become reality, the Giants almost definitely have to beat the Cowboys this weekend, so in some way Rolle’s post-season pledge can be seen as a promise that the Cowboys are going down.

“You ask will we make the playoffs?’’ Rolle said yesterday on his weekly WFAN radio spot. “Without a doubt. We will be in that postseason. And we all know once you get in that post season, that record is 0-0, let’s go to work.’’

Even though they haven’t won in exactly a month, the Giants have full control of their playoff fate.

“I like being able to dictate the outcome of how our season’s going to end or how it’s going to continue to go into the postseason,’’ Rolle said. “We have total control, we are fully aware of that. If we go out there and we play with the intensity and emotion and passion we had this last Sunday, man, those teams are in trouble.’’

As far as the 38-35 loss to the undefeated Packers, Rolle said he did not fully understand how bad some of the calls were in that game until he got home that night and watched the replay. Rolle does not know why Greg Jennings’ bobbling catch in the end zone withstood a booth replay.

“He never had total control of the football, therefore the rule says it’s not a catch,’’ he said. “There were definitely some questionable calls out there, the way I like to play the game is you never leave the games in the hands of the refs. Sometimes they’re going to make great calls, sometimes they’re going to make bad calls. They’re not perfect. You can’t get caught up on calls. We still have four games to go, we have to get our minds rights, we can’t be laying around and sulking around about calls that were made in the previous game.’’
