Devils’ Zajac to make season debut Friday

Devils coach Pete DeBoer said Travis Zajac will make his season debut Friday night against the Stars.

Zajac has missed the Devils’ first 30 games following Aug. 18 Achilles tendon surgery.

Zajac skated between Mattias Tedenby and Eric Boulton in practice Thursday. Zajac’s return will coincide with the Devils retiring Scott Niedermayer’s No. 27.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Zajac said, according to NJ.com “I feel like I’m ready to go mentally and physically. Now all I have to do is play.”

David Clarkson, excused Thursday for personal reasons, might join Zajac on Friday night.
