Giants report card

OFFENSE (C)

Eli Manning completes only 9 of his 27 passes? What the heck is going on? Not much doing through the air other than brilliant 99-yard TD for Victor Cruz (3-164). Hakeem Nicks (1-20) was little factor. Line could not get running game going at all until late with Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. Not pretty anywhere.

DEFENSE (A)

Pass rush heated up (five sacks, two from Jason Pierre-Paul) and best game yet for resurgent Justin Tuck, plus a safety by Chris Canty. CBs Corey Webster and Aaron Ross did just fine vs. Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress, and Kenny Phillips came up with diving interception.

SPECIAL TEAMS (B+)

Nice work by ex-Jet Steve Weatherford with his nine punts, and Lawrence Tynes hit field goals from 21 and 36 yards. Rookie Jerrel Jernigan got some room on kickoff returns (25.7 yard average) and coverage was solid.

COACHING (A)

Tom Coughlin took a licking and kept on ticking after getting run over on the sideline by D.J. Ware. We all knew he was pretty darn tough. Kevin Gilbride didn’t call that horrible pass in fourth quarter. It was an Eli audible, so calm down.
