Fallen cop’s girls ‘amazed’ by generosity

“Thank you.”

The four heartbroken daughters of slain NYPD cop Peter Figoski have been left speechless by the outpouring of concern and donations to a fund established to pay for their higher education.

“There are no words. It is unbelievable and amazing,” Christine Figoski, 19, a SUNY Oneonta undergrad, told The Post as the fund named for their dad surpassed $1.3million.

Her three sisters — Caitlyn, 18, a SUNY Plattsburgh undergrad; Caroline, 16, and Corinne, 14, both high-school students in West Babylon — are equally stunned by the generosity of strangers.

“It was amazing. People from all over the world showed their support,” Caitlyn said.

“I don’t know how to thank everyone so much,” Caroline said.

The Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund was founded by The Post and the New York City Police Foundation.

Figoski’s top priority was his daughters — and the 22-year NYPD veteran put off retirement to ensure he had enough money to put all of them through college.

“I want to send out a million thanks-yous to everyone,” Christine said.

Figoski was gunned down on Dec. 12 while responding to a drug-den robbery in Brooklyn.

His funeral last week drew 20,000 cops, family and friends to a West Babylon, LI, church — the same place the girls and their father were baptized.

“It was unreal how many people showed up,” Christine said.

It was so crowded that some officers lined up on the nearby Long Island Rail Road platform to salute as Figoski’s casket was placed in a hearse.

“I remember looking up and seeing all the people on the train station,” Christine said.

“He wouldn’t believe all the support and people that turned out for him,” Corinne said.

“It’s unbelievable how police officers all stick together, like one big family, ” Caitlyn said.

“Seeing all the American flags [at the funeral] was nice,” Caroline said. “The police brotherhood is truly amazing.”

Caitlyn added, “It was unbelievable how many people knew him,” although, she said, “he wouldn’t like all this attention.”

“He would probably laugh about this,” Caroline said of the overwhelming show of support.
