Oregon decks Wisconsin in Rose Bowl

Oregon’s incredible offense busted up Wisconsin and the record books on the way to the Ducks’ first Rose Bowl victory in 95 years.

Darron Thomas passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns, freshman De’Anthony Thomas scored on runs of 91 and 64 yards, and the No.6Ducks earned their first bowl victory under coach Chip Kelly, holding off Wisconsin 45-38 last night in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever played.

And it wasn’t overuntil the Badgers (113) ran out of time at the Oregon 25, out of timeouts and unable to spike the ball in time to stop the clock for a last-gasp fling.

Lavasier Tuinei caught eight passes for 158 yards and two TDs for the Ducks (12-2).

Montee Ball rushed for 122 of his 164 yards in the first half for the Badgers (113), who lost the Rose Bowl for the second straight year despite managing 508 yards of their own. QB Russell Wilson passed for 296 yards and two scores.

Oklahoma St. 41, Stanford 38

Brandon Weeden passed for 399 yards and threw three touchdowns to Justin Blackmon in his final collegiate game, and Quinn Sharp hit a 22-yard field goal in overtime to lift No. 3 Oklahoma State past Andrew Luck and No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz.

Oklahoma State (12-1) had the last score on Sharp’s game-winner to win in its first BCS bowl game, earning a chance to stake claim at being No. 1 in the AP poll should Alabama beat LSU in next week’s BCS title game.

Stanford (11-2) had a chance to win in regulation, but redshirt freshman Jordan Williamson hooked a 35yard field goal wide left as time expired.He also missed from 43 yards in overtime.

Luck hit 27 of 31 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns in his final game.

Michigan. St. 33, Georgia 30

In Tampa, Kirk Cousins threw for 300 yards and one touchdown and Dan Conroy kicked a 28-yard field goal in the third overtime as No. 12 Michigan State(11-3) won the Outback Bowl, its first bowl victory since 2001.

Georgia’s Blair Walsh became the SEC’s career scoring leader with a field goal in the second extra period. But he missed a 42-yarder in the first overtime after conservative play calling and had a 47yard attempt blocked on the final play of the game.

Cornerback Brandon Boykin scored a safety, returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown and caught a 13yard TD pass for the Bulldogs (10-4).

Houston 30, Penn State 14

In Dallas, Case Keenum passed for 532 yards and three touchdowns, leading No. 20 Houston (13-1) past No. 24 Penn State (9-4) in the Ticket City Bowl.

Keenum came into the game as the NCAA’s career leader in yards passing and touchdowns passes, then set a bowl record with 227yards passing in the first quarter.

Florida 24, Ohio State 17

In Jacksonville, Florida’s special teams came up big in the Gator Bowl, scoring twice as the Gators (7-6) beat Ohio State (6-7) in a game between Urban Meyer’s old team and his future one.

Andre Debose returned a kickoff 99 yards — the longest scoring play in bowl history—and Chris Rainey blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown.

So. Carolina 30, Nebraska 13

In Orlando, Alshon Jeffery caught four passes for 148 yards and a touchdown before getting ejected for fighting, and the 10th ranked Gamecocks (11-2) set a school-record for victories by beating No. 21 Nebraska (9-4) in the Capital One Bowl.

Quarterback Connor Shaw, passed for two scores and rushed for another. He finished 11-for-17 for 230 yards and ran for 42 yards.
