Nurse charged with killing son in murder-suicide bid

A Brooklyn nurse has been charged with killing her baby boy in Flatbush, cops said.

Anna Thomas, 20, was found in the Ocean Avenue apartment around 10 p.m. yesterday with a suicide note explaining that she and her tot were dead, cops said.

She killed 19-month-old Justin Stephens just before she tried plunging out a window at her aunt’s home where she lived, cops said.

Police responded to the home when they got a call for an emotionally disturbed female attempting to jump out a window, according to cops.

The superintendent of the building said the young mother worked as a nurse and was “always smiling.”

“She moved in here just about two years ago. I am very surprised. I went up there last night when I heard. The apartment looked nice, no blood, no struggle. When I was in there, I heard them saying she killed the baby. It’s hard to believe. She’s always smiling. I cant believe she would do something crazy like this,” Burim Havolli,29, the superintendent explained.

No immediate signs of trauma were found on the tot, who was rushed to Community Hospital unconscious and unresponsive, cops said. The child was pronounced dead on arrival.

Neighbors said the young mother moved in with her aunt right before the tot was born.

Cops questioned the young mom before she was charged with three counts of manslaughter and murder, according to police.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, cops said.
