Knicks forward Anthony trying to play through pain

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, partly because he is dealing with a sprained right ankle and trying to dribble and shoot with a sore left wrist. It sounds like the pain in the wrist is going to linger for long enough that, rather than rest it, Anthony is going to have to learn to shoot through it.

“My ankle’s a little sore but I just wanted to test it out again today,” said Anthony, who tweaked his sprained ankle in the Knicks’ 102-93 loss to the Magic on Monday and spent yesterday’s practice reworking his shot to deal with his wrist. “It’s a little bit better, especially after twisting it again. The wrist is what it is at this point. But I’m getting through. I’m going to be all right,’’

“I was just trying to see different ways that I can try to control the ball out there when I’m shooting. [Monday] I didn’t have any control over the ball when I was shooting a shot. I was trying to grip the ball a little bit more. I was trying to play around with the ball, just to see what I feel comfortable with and what I don’t.’’

Anthony, who was 9-of-27 with five turnovers in Monday’s loss, said he won’t actually change his shooting motion, but learn to guide the ball with his left hand.

* The Knicks assigned center Jerome Jordan and guard Jeremy Lin to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. It was the first time they assigned a player to the D-League.

The Knicks acquired Jordan in a 2010 draft-night trade with Milwaukee for $500,000, and the 7-foot, 240-pounder spent parts of each of the last two seasons in Serbia before the Knicks brought him to camp. He has eight points and eight boards in 29 minutes.

Lin was signed for the veteran’s minimum when Iman Shumpert injured his knee Christmas Day against the Celtics. Lin has nine points, two rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes.

* Anthony on this summer’s Olympics: “I look forward to going to London, look forward to representing Team USA for the third time. Hopefully we’ll have another chance to go get that gold medal.’’
