Fin is in! Nifty ’50s Prada

Prada is burning rubber in the race for the trendiest spring shoes.

Its hot-off-the-runway footwear blends three obsessions — women, heels and cars.

The shoes, including several different examples of pumps, sandals and wedges, are pure greased lightning. Sky-high stilettos feature a red, bullet-shaped tail light. A wedge is tricked out with exhaust-pipe flames shooting out the back.

A third style has a wedge shaped like a tail fin of a vintage Cadillac.

The collection of strappy, high-heeled shoes comes in hot-rod red and racing green with a shiny car-paint finish, and jeweled brooches on the front instead of hood ornaments.

The new line is showing up in Prada’s new ads, tongue-in-cheek odes to the era of “Grease” and “American Graffiti.’’

Models pose on period convertibles in pinup-style bathing suits and demure coat dresses, with a leg up on the bumper — presumably waiting for a ride.

The shoes are part of a whole 1950s-inspired spring collection that includes car prints, bandeau tops, pencil skirts and pleated dresses à la Marilyn Monroe, in addition to the novelty footwear the likes of which the movie icon never saw.

The glamazon shoes won’t hit stores until it’s warm enough for convertibles, but the price tags — up to $1,450 a pair — might give some shoppers the roadhouse blues.
