‘Most Wanted’ Queens man convicted of murder

A Queens man who was featured on “America’s Most Wanted” was convicted of murder today after a two-week trial.

Danny Williams, 34, was on the lam for eight years after he and his co-defendant, Reginald Artis, 30, shot two men on May 28, 2002 on 148th Street in Jamaica, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

The thugs had been robbed earlier that day and assumed, incorrectly, the victims, Roshawn Tate, 22 and Mark Belizaire, 21, were involved. Williams, armed with a shotgun and Artis, with a handgun, approached the two men and fired several shots.

Tate was shot in the back running from the gunmen and died at the scene. Belizaire suffered multiple injuries including nerve damage to his legs that has resulted in him being permanently disabled, said DA Richard Brown.

Artis was picked up by US Marshals on October 10, 2003 in Essex County, New Jersey.

Williams was arrested in July 2010 in Jackson, New Jersey by NYPD Fugitive Task Force and local police following two stories on the long-running television show.

The ex-fugitive faces up to 50 years to life in prison when he is sentenced by Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory Lasak on February 29.
