9-year-old Brooklyn boy fighting for life after 24-year-old brother ‘attacked’ him with a hammer

A 9-year-old Brooklyn boy was struggling for life today after his 24-year-old brother attacked him with a hammer, police said.

At about 6 a.m., Jonathan Henderson, 24, attacked his younger brother and his 45-year-old mother in their home on Marcy Ave. between Monroe and Madison streets in Bedford-Stuyvesant, said cops.

When officers arrived, they found the Henderson being held down in the building’s basement by another brother, who cops said is also 24 years old.

The 9-year-old is being treated at Kings County Hospital for life threatening injuries, said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

The mother is in satisfactory condition at the same hospital.

Henderson is being held at Woodhull Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said they have responded to several domestic violence reports at the family’s home. The names of the victims have not been released.
