CHSAA/Private boys basketball roundup: Poly tops Riverdale in The Bronx

Poly Prep remained in a first place tie atop the Ivy Prep League with Collegiate thanks to a balanced effort in a 52-47 win at Riverdale in The Bronx on Wednesday.

Ladi Adesoin had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Anthony Reyes scored 12 points and Wolfgang Novogratz and Miles Stephenson each added 10 for Poly (10-6, 6-1), which has won two in a row after Saturday’s non-league loss to Delbarton (N.J.). Riverdale, which is now 8-8 and 4-4, faces Trinity on Friday while Poly hosts Hackley.

Collegiate 69, Trinity 27: Ryan Frankel scored 24 points and Connor Huff added 16 points and 16 rebounds for Collegiate (14-2, 7-1), which visits Horace Mann Friday at 4:15 p.m. Trinity (3-9, 1-8) takes on Riverdale Friday at 4:15 as well.

Fieldston 68, Hackley 54: Grady Smith scored 18 points and Tristan Gaines had 12 for Fieldston, which bounced back from Monday’s loss to Collegiate. The Eagles (14-3, 8-2) host Dalton Friday at 7 p.m. Hackley faces Poly Prep Friday at 8 p.m.

CHSAA CLASS AA

Monsignor Farrell 58, Fordham Prep 47: Connor Nicholson had 23 points to lead Farrell (9-13, 1-7 ‘AA’) to its first league victory. Jarred Moorer had 14 points and Sean McNamara added 10 for Fordham Prep (4-13, 0-10).

CHSAA CLASS A

Iona Prep 61, Xavier 54: Felix Abongo had 22 points, Isiah Ice had 14 points and Kevin Conroy added 12 points for Iona (16-2, 10-1 ‘AA’). Matt Crockett had 22 points for Xavier (9-9, 5-6).

NON-LEAGUE

Trevor Day School 63, Friends Seminary 33: Elijah Frater had 15 points and nine rebounds, Peter Atkin followed with 14 points, Will Kronberger had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Clio Markman tallied nine points and 12 assists for Trevor Day (12-6), which hosts Loyola Monday at 6 p.m. Friends Seminary takes on Dwight Feb. 8 at 5:45 p.m.
