PSAL boys basketball roundup: Evander tops Columbus on Will Klein Night

Jaquan Conway had 21 points, four steals, four rebounds and four assists and Romaine Thomas added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead Evander Childs past Columbus, 60-46, in Bronx A East boys basketball on Will Klein Night.

Klein was honored for his leadership as principal of Evander Childs in the 1980s and his contributions to Bronx basketball as the longtime coach of Columbus. He founded the Five Star Basketball Camp, along with Howard Garfunkel, which launched the careers of hundreds of basketball players.

Donivan Gray scored 15 points for Columbus (10-8). Evander improves to 17-6 overall, 15-3 in the league and has won eight straight.

Long Island City 77, William Bryant 55: Sadji Camara had 19 points and four assists, Arthur Santanna added 17 points and 15 rebounds and Xavier Jones notched 13 points and five assists for LIC (21-2, 14-0), which completes its second straight undefeated league season in Queens A West. Bryant finishes 5-9.

RKA 73, Taft 71, 2OT: Chris Williams had 21 points and seven rebounds, Juwan Clark had 18 points and Julian Rachko added 14 points and 12 rebounds for RKA (5-13) in Bronx A West. Richard Lie scored 33 points for Taft (12-6), which is tied atop the division with Roosevelt and Clinton with one game remaining.

Morris 62, Smith 52: Isaiah Patterson had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Phillip Smith and Gilmore Hunter each had 15 points for Morris (9-9) in Bronx A East. Smith is 3-15.

Law & Technology 70, Prospect Heights 48: Juan Ramos had 23 points, Jerry Spencer notched 10 points and six assists and Ibra Toure finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds for Law & Technology (15-8, 11-6) in Brooklyn A East. Prospect Heights is 4-13.

Bedford Academy 106, Canarsie 43: Ellis Everett scored 24 points, Ian Roach had 15 points, Darien Best added 13 points and five rebounds and Josh Lopez had 10 points and eight rebounds for Bedford Academy (18-3, 14-3) in Brooklyn A East. Canarsie is 0-16.

Graphic Communications 69, Randolph 39: Grady King sank seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points and Khalil Tucker followed with 11 for Graphic Communications (14-2), which clinched at least a share of the Manhattan A Northwest crown with the win. Randolph is 5-10.

George Washington 46, Bread & Roses 45: Christian Edandison pumped in 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds for GW (7-8) in Manhattan A Northwest. Bread & Roses is 5-10.

Hunter College 64, Norman Thomas 58: Kadeem Nibbs had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Mark terng added 12 points and Sam Gordon had 11 points and eight rebounds for Hunter (15-1), which clinched the Manhattan A East crown. Norman Thomas (14-2) has lost two in a row.

East Harlem Pride 77, Julia Richman 48: Yaser Himed and Isaiah Wise Fordham each scored 12 points and Steven Byas had 10 points and 10 rebounds for East Harlem Pride (9-7) in Manhattan A East. Julia Richman is 2-14.

Martin Luther King Jr. 76, Brandeis 54: Miguel Velez had 18 points and John Otero followed with 16 for MLK (8-6) in Manhattan A Northwest. Devin Abreu led winless Brandeis (0-15) with 20 points.

Lafayette 61, New Utrecht 58: Brian Dinnall had 15 points and 14 rebounds, Shakqueel Waldron had 14 points and 18 rebounds and Brandon Doyley posted 12 points and 11 assists for Lafayette (11-3), which clinched the Brooklyn A South crown with the win after finishing next-to-last in 2011. New Utrecht is 8-6.

Seward Park 71, Economics & Finance 44: Juan Cruz and Jason Quinones each scored 17 points and Lasana Williams had 16 for Seward Park (9-7)in Manhattan A Southwest. Economics & Finance is 2-13.

Stuyvesant 42, Murry Bergtraum 38: Thomas Cui scored 17 points and Roy Vlcek had 15 points and seven assists for Stuyvesant (12-4), which can do no less than finish tied for the Manhattan A Southwest title. Bergtraum falls to 10-4.

FDR 61, Fort Hamilton 58: Valdet Djombalic had 18 points and Hasan Mati added 13 points and seven assists for FDR (9-5) in Brooklyn A South. Fort Hamilton is 6-8.

Construction 51, Lane 36: Harry Eromoselle had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Isaiah Henderson tallied 10 points and four assists for Construction (17-6, 11-3) in Queens A East. Lane finishes 4-10.

Telecommunications 66, Sheepshead Bay 46: Chris Martinez had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Roger Clarke Jr. added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Telecom (10-4) in Brooklyn A South. Sheepshead Bay wraps up the season at 2-12.

James Madison 58, Midwood 47: Dashawn Francis had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Andre Walker had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Madison (7-7) in Brooklyn A South. Midwood finishes 3-11.

Queens HS of Teaching 76, Aviation 68: Brandon Hughes posted 25 points and seven rebounds, Denzel Thomas had 21 points and 14 rebounds and Isaiah Hayes had 12 points and 11 rebounds for QHST (9-5) in Queens A West. Aviation is 2-12.

Far Rockaway 71, Grover Cleveland 43: Warren Saylor Jr. scored 15 points and Malik Stewart had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Far Rockaway (8-6) in Queens A East. Grover Cleveland is 4-10.

Francis Lewis 55, Jamaica 44: Russell Jenkins Jr. scored 17 points and Jamal Razaki had 13 for Lewis (9-5) in Queens A West. Jamaica ends the year 1-13.

Robert F. Wagner Jr. 72, Baccalaureate 30: Carvell Matthews had 24 points and 13 rebounds for Robert F. Wagner (6-5) in Queens B West. Baccalaureate is still winless at 0-12.

Lab Museum 60, Manhattan Village Academy 55: Joseph Luisi had 21 points and eight rebounds and Alex Mattina added 20 points for Lab (4-7) in Manhattan B-3. Manhattan Village is 9-3.

WHEELS 72, Fashion Industries 26: Eulogio Medina had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists and Ramyer Leonardo had 15 points for Manhattan B-3-leading Wheels (15-2, 11-1). Fashion Industries is still winless at 0-11.
