‘Sharknado’ gets ‘Second’ Syfy name

They couldn’t come up with anything better?

Syfy has announced that its second “Sharknado” movie, set in New York City and airing next summer, will be called “Sharknado 2: The Second One.

The network chose the title after asking people to tweet their title choices — and received over 5,000 submissions.

“Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name ‘Sharknado 2,’” Syfy’s executive VP of programming and original movies, Thomas Vitale, said in a statement.

“Sharknado 2: The Second One,” is expected to feature “Sharknado” star Ian Ziering.

It’s unclear at this point if co-star Tara Reid will return for the next go-round.

The original “Sharknado,” which first aired July 11, was a social media sensation — and actually added viewers in its subsequent two airings, which is very unusual.
