Baron Davis is not going to let his latest injury stop him from coming back and ending his career as a Knick.

Davis, who suffered a dislocated kneecap in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, has been on the mend following the gruesome injury that some viewed as potentially career-ending.

“Recovery is going real good,” Davis told The Post at a Popchips Game Changers charity event. “It was a tough injury, really disheartening, but at the same time it has been an opportunity for me to better understand my body and more motivation for me to come back and get to 100 percent.”

After signing with the Knicks prior to last season, Davis played in 29 games due to a back injury. The 33-year-old point guard said he hopes to return to New York when he’s healthy.

Davis is expected to miss all of next season and would be targeting a return in 2013-14.

“I hope I [return to the Knicks], I want to come back,” Davis said before the Dyckman Street Ball Tournament. “I want to be a Knick for the rest of my career.’’

Davis said the atmosphere is enough to make him want to play in New York.

“Playing in the Garden and the people, the fans,” Davis said. “I feel like New York is the Mecca of basketball. This was the best stage, for who I am, to give back to the community and play for a top-notch organization.”

The Knicks weren’t the only team Davis heaped praise on. The veteran point guard had nothing but good things to say about the NBA champion Heat, especially LeBron James.

“I think the Heat were the best team in the NBA,” Davis said. “I definitely tip my hat to the Miami Heat,” Davis said, “and to LeBron James for winning the MVP and proving a lot of people wrong. They deserved it.”

Davis is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and will still be recovering, but said he would make his presence felt.

“I’m probably going to be out all next season, but I’m still going to be a good teammate and cheer on the Knicks,” Davis said.
