Nomia

It was a hip and happening crowd today at The Standard Hotel where Yara Flinn’s line Nomia showed.

Scanning the crowd, I noticed various scenesters I recognized from websites like The Cobrasnake and StyelikeU, making it apparent that this was a pretty eclectic crew.

Unfortunately, it was hard to see over these stylish folk because it was a standing show, making it difficult to see most of the pieces in full. Although this was the case, what I did see were some impressive ready-to-wear minimalistic pieces with an all around urban vibe.

There were not many colors featured, mainly white and black with pops of red here and there. This use of red worked really well with the neutral tones of the line, giving some outfits an element that really caught your eye. Red is my favorite color to accessorize with because I too wear a lot of neutrals.

Models walked down the runway with their hair down paired with sunglasses by Selima Optique. Makeup was subtle and coupled with bold eyebrows, going very nicely with the casual style of the clothes.

There was undoubtedly a young feeling to this line, especially due to certain pieces displaying exclamations like “whatever” on them. It was a fun contrast to the many garments that seemed more focused on the silhouettes and cuts.

I could see myself wearing many of these pieces, and I’m happy that Nomia is now on my radar.
