Dirt bike driver to cooperate with DA against alleged ‘excessive force’ cops

A dirt bike driver whose friend was killed as they fled police will cooperate with authorities investigating the cops who allegedly ran them down, a source said today.

Adalberto Gonzalez, 26, was charged with reckless endangerment, fleeing police and resisting arrest after a wild chase through a Bronx neighborhood last month that ended in his pal’s death.

Cops said Gonzalez ditched his own bike and jumped on the back of Eddie Fernandez’ bike after officers approached him on a Hunts Point street.

Authorities said a marked police car accidentally hit the bike as it started to drive away. The collision knocked both riders off the bike. Fernandez was killed and Gonzalez suffered a broken ankle.

“The reality is the aggressive conduct used at the time of the impact was unnecessary,” said Gonzalez’s lawyer, Cesar Gonzales.

“In my opinion. because of the excessive force used, we decided to cooperate with the District Attorney’s office as they pursue excessive force allegations against the police.”

The DA’s office said the excessive force allegations are “under review.”

Gonzalez is also pursuing a $200 million lawsuit against the NYPD.
