Naeem Khan knows what his woman wants — and expects — from his designs: easy glamour that she can pack for her next exotic locale.
Against a soundtrack of the spring runways’ favorite songbirds — Lana del Rey and Grimes — Khan started off with swirly black and white floral prints. Some came in the form of full-skirted organza frocks, others in the way of a trench paired with a slim-fit black beaded pant. There was embroidery aplenty, but as he is wont, Khan cranked up the volume with a series of sunset-printed pieces. both cocktail and floor-length, that floated with ease. Pairing them with flat strappy sandals probably helped and ultimately proved that the modern woman doesn’t have to teeter in five-inch heels to make a formal statement.
But it was a trio of marigold, coral and blue beaded caftans — all topped with crystal tiaras — that are sure to secure Khan’s crown as king of the glittery jet-set.
