Newtown leads anti-gun march

Thousands of demonstrators poured into Washington yesterday, demanding stiffer gun-control laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

Marchers holding “We Are Sandy Hook” signs — paying solemn tribute to the 26 victims of the December shooting in Newtown, Conn. — led the 6,000-strong crowd making its way from the Capitol to the Washington Monument.

About 100 marchers from Newtown were on hand.

“We can’t let this be another one that gets forgotten and the status quo continues,” said Dave Ackert, 45, a Newtown father of two.
