‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ a prehistoric snore

Prehistoric creatures migrate south, migrate back north and migrate back south again to mind-numbing effect in this BBC Nature co-production, which features photo-realistic 3-D animation against beautiful Alaskan backgrounds.

What passes for a story in this sub-“Ice Age’’ effort pits underdog dinosaur Patchi (voiced by Justin Long) against older brother Scowler (Skyler Stone) for leadership of the pack.

You could write “Walking With Dinosaurs’’ off as harmless filler for the under-5 set, except that the only female dinosaur, Juniper (Tiya Sircar), exists solely to moon over Patchi, who as a hatchling lost part of an ear to a winged predator.

“She loves me and my hole,’’ exults Patchi, who has a lot of groan-worthy lines straight out of a Jurassic-era jokebook — but nowhere near as many as poor John Leguizamo, who hopefully got well-paid to voice a stereotypical Latino bird providing a stream of nonsensical narration.
