0 to ‘State’ case for econo-boost

WASHINGTON — President Obama, his political power peaking, will use his State of the Union speech tomorrow night to try to build support for a government-backed push to spark the economy.

“He wants to emphasize we need to make investments in infrastructure, education, manufacturing, clean energy,” Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) told CNN’s “State of the Union” yesterday. Schakowsky attended a Democratic retreat at which Obama laid out his plan.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will give the response for the GOP, which has blasted Obama’s government-stimulus plans.
