SI mom slain by suicidal hubby: cops

A Staten Island hairdresser was stabbed to death yesterday by her husband, who then plunged the knife into himself in a failed suicide attempt, cops said.

Ilona Ganzha, 44, was found dead at 3:40 p.m. after being stabbed repeatedly by her husband Adiljan Anarbaev, 44, in their New Springville home, according to police.

Anarbaev, a cab driver, was found covered in blood in a bedroom in the home by police. He had stab wounds to his chest and slit wrists, sources said.

He was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze and is in stable condition.

“She seemed like a nice, sweet person,” said Theresa Cirillo, 65, a neighbor.

Ganzha had four children, according to Cirillo, three with her current husband, and one from a previous marriage.

Cirillo believes all four children were home at the time of the stabbing.

“I feel bad for the kids,” she said.

“They don’t have a mother and a father. Now they have to grow up fast.”

Her neighbor said that the woman emigrated from Russia. Her husband came from Poland.

The couple may have been going through marital problems because the husband was staying at another location.
