A Queens barber is scratching his head over getting slapped with a $250 fine for not posting a refund policy.
In a dozen years of running his barbershop in Ozone Park, Alexander Ariyez said no one’s ever asked for a refund.
City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Queens), who gets his hair cut at the shop, complained about the fine on the floor of the council last week.
“I don’t know about you, but after you get a haircut — whether you like it or nor — they can’t pick the hair off the floor and put it back on your head,” said Ulrich.
“I’ve never been in a barber shop where someone asked for their money back.”
Consumer Affairs officials said the law requires every store selling goods or services to spell out how customers can get refunds, and that includes barbershops.
Ariyez paid the fine, plus another $250 summons for not providing receipts that include his name and address.
“Who asks me for receipt of a $10 haircut?” he said.
