A toast (hic!) to peace: Call for UN ban on drunken diplos

The US wants the UN to stand tall — and admit that it has a drinking problem.

Tense negotiations over the world body’s annual budget are complicated by diplomats who show up drunk, US Ambassador Joseph Torsella said yesterday.

Because the budget is finalized in December, it seems holiday parties lead to revelry that spills over into the talks, he noted.

Torsella proposed making UN negotiation rooms “an inebriation-free zone.”
