Subway-death kin demand MTA records

The grieving Long Island parents of a 23-year-old man whose dismembered body was found on an L-train track in December want the MTA to hand over records of the gruesome death.

Melinda and Michael Sims, of Great Neck, hint that foul play may have been involved in son Ryan’s death sometime between Dec. 10 and 11, according to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court.

They “believe that the location of Ryan’s remains in an alcove abutting the tracks, the dismemberment of his remains, and the disappearance of Ryan’s eyeglasses, wallet, iPhone and backpack mean that Ryan’s remains were mishandled after his death,” their petition claims.

Authorities did not expect foul play when they discovered the body on the rail bed at the 14thStreet-First Avenue station at about 7:10 a.m. on Dec. 11, presumably struck by a train, although no such report of a man being hit by a train had been made.

The cause of death was “blunt trauma of the head, torso and extremities,” according to the medical examiner, but police are still investigating how Ryan died.

No drugs or alcohol were found in his system.

His parents believe a survey of video footage and other records might explain the tragedy.

The MTA did not return calls seeking comment.
