A man wearing a wacky pink wig and a purple polka-dot dress allegedly robbed a bank in Illinois — using a high pitched voice to disguise himself, The Smoking Gun reports.
Arnell Edwards, 50, allegedly sported the dress — along with a rag over his face — at a U.S. Bank branch in New Athens, where he handed a teller a Post-it note reading ” STICK UP ALL MONEY” on Friday, according to the website.
The freaked-out bank employee then handed the dressed-up crook $1,537 in cash, documents posted by the Website state.
“The black male wearing the pink with purple polka dot dressed picked up the United States currency with his right hand, turned and walked away,” FBI agent Daniel Cook wrote in a criminal complaint.
Edwards, who lives in St. Louis, Missouri, was arrested at a nearby apartment, where a female friend lives, according to the Smoking Gun.
Federal authorities found cuts on his right wrist that matched injures the bank robber appeared to suffer on a surveillance tape.
Edwards denied robbing the bank, claiming he was asleep in his friend’s home at the time of the time.
He faces up to 20 years in prison.
