WFAN to be new radio home of the Yankees

“Let’s go Yanks … F-A-N, duh duh duh!”

The Yankees announced Wednesday a multi-year broadcast agreement with WFAN, longtime radio home of the Mets. Under the deal with CBS Radio, all regular-season games will be simulcast on 660 AM and 101.9 FM.

In a statement released by the team, owner Hal Steinbrenner said, “The paramount consideration was how our fans would best be able to hear our games. Having the Yankees on WFAN-AM/FM provides listeners in the New York metropolitan area and beyond with superior broadcast quality and vast territorial signal strength.”

CBS Radio president Dan Mason said: “There is no bigger name in baseball than the Yankees, nor an organization so steeped in tradition.”

The pact leaves the Mets station-less. On Tuesday, Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said, “Right now we’re still negotiating with several parties about what we’re going to do with our radio rights.”

Play-by-play man John Sterling is expected to make the move over to WFAN, but analyst Suzyn Waldman’s spot is not as secure, according to Newsday.
