Peyton Manning is standing directly in front of them for Week 2, but the Giants couldn’t help notice the Chip Kelly menace against the Redskins on Monday night.
“That’s a lot of plays in a short period of time,” defensive end Justin Tuck said. “From what I hear, they’re in the best shape of their lives. They looked pretty good last Monday.”
Pretty good and pretty fast.
“It’s a high-powered offense,” cornerback Aaron Ross said. “It’s pretty much what he brought from college [Oregon]. It was just what everybody was expecting. It’s one of those games you’re going to have to be in shape ready to run. It’s an up-tempo-type of offense. They have a lot of guys that’s explosive that complements the offense, so it’s something that you have to be ready and prepared for.”
Scary?
“I wouldn’t say it’s scary — it’s different,” Ross said. “People say different is scary, but it’s just that’s different that you have to be prepared for.”
Ross was asked whether the Giants might have to do a little extra running the week of the Oct. 6 Eagles game at MetLife Stadium.
“The dbs in general, we do a lot of extra running anyway, so we’ll be prepared for it,” Ross said.
Corey Webster was impressed, but not alarmed.
“Looks like they’re fast, explosive,” the cornerback said. “We’ll see. We have time.”
