Cop suing the cops

An NYPD sergeant is suing Long Island cops for $15 million, claiming they busted him for threatening his then-girlfriend, even though she wasn’t sure he was the culprit.

In a federal suit filed in Central Islip, Transit District Two Officer Joseph Sordi, 38, says he was wrongly arrested by Suffolk County Police last March after his estranged girlfriend, Christie Demonte, got a voicemail death threat.

The call came from a blocked number. The message said “You’re gonna die, bitch,’” according to the lawsuit

The lawsuit also said cops pressured Demonte to initially identify Sordi as the caller. Then they didn’t listen when she changed her mind and wavered, the suit charges.

Demonte is now Sordi’s wife, sources said. Suffolk cops declined to comment.
