Guilty in fire slays

A demonic firebug who sparked a blaze that trapped and killed five of his neighbors was found guilty yesterday — and faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced next month.

It took a Brooklyn Supreme Court jury less than an hour to convict Guatemalan immigrant Daniel Ignacio, 31.

“That’s all my family wishes: justice for my wife, for everybody,” said Miguel Chan, whose wife was killed in the Bensonhurst blaze. “They died that day. Never I forget the date January 30, 2010.”

The jury foreman read the word “Guilty” aloud 16 times, convicting Ignacio of arson, five counts of murder and 10 counts of assault.

Chan began crying after the guilty verdict was announced. His then-2-month-old daughter suffered permanent injuries when he was forced to toss her from the burning third floor to the sidewalk.
