A Bronx Science student who had to travel more than 2 1/2 hours to school from his home in Queens has finally caught a break — his family has moved to a new apartment much closer to his classes.
Santiago Munoz — who was ranked in a UN photo exhibit as having nearly the longest school commute in the world — now lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 1 1/2 hours from Bronx Science.
“It’s a relief. I feel more relaxed now,” the 14-year-old said.
The Housing Authority offered the new digs to Munoz’s family after The Post reported on his daily journey this month. The agency said the family was eligible to move because their Far Rockaway complex was damaged by Sandy.
The extra time has allowed Munoz to enroll in weekend SAT-prep classes.
The UN exhibit also told the story of a girl in Thailand who went to school on a rickshaw and a boy in Brazil who rode a donkey.
